Completed size: 10.5cm (4 inches) in diameter if using 3 mm hook = C/2 and Light Worsted #3 = DK yarn

Free Crochet Flower Coaster Pattern: Materials & Tools
Type of yarn: this free pattern will work nicely with 100% cotton, 100% acrylic yarn or a blend of both. However, I personally prefer 100% cotton as the best yarn when working on crochet coaster patterns.
Suggested yarn weight: Light Worsted #3 = DK yarn
I used these yarn colors – they are quite bright colors but you can of course choose whichever color you like
– Light Worsted #3 = DK yarn
– 100% cotton

– 1x skein of yarn – Rico Essentials Cotton DK – color cream 88 – (50g/130m)
Crochet hook: I used 3 mm crochet hook = C/2 but refer to the instructions on your yarn label if using different weight of yarn.

Free Crochet Flower Coaster Pattern: Abbreviations
This free crochet flower coaster pattern is written using US crochet terms. Download this free printable chart with UK terms). You can print it and keep forever so you always have it to hand.
R: row or round
MR: magic ring / magic circle

INV SS / SL ST: invisible slip stitch – when you finish your last stitch in the round, pull up the yarn a bit and remove the hook; then insert the hook into the stitch you would like to slip stitch into BUT go from the back of your work to the front. Loop your yarn back around the hook and pull the loop tight around the hook. Then pull the hook through the stitch and twist the hook back into normal position. After you twist the hook, your yarn will be in front of it so just place it behind the hook.
INV FO: invisible fasten off

{…}: number shown inside these brackets equals the number of total stitches at the end of each round

Free Crochet Flower Coaster Pattern: Get Started!
You will crochet the coaster in a round starting from the middle of the coaster. You will join each round with an invisible slip stitch, which is a handy technique that helps you achieve a neat seamless joint.
INV SS: invisible slip stitch = when you finish your last stitch in the round, pull up the yarn a bit and remove the hook; then insert the hook into the stitch you would like to slip stitch into BUT go from the back of your work to the front.
Loop your yarn back around the hook and pull the loop tight around the hook. Then pull the hook through the stitch and twist the hook back into it’s normal position. After you twist the hook, your yarn will be in front of it so just place it behind the hook.
If you are unsure how to do the invisible slip stitch or need extra help with this free crochet coaster pattern, you can watch this video tutorial that will show you step by step how to crochet this flower coaster.
