Materials & Tools
Yarn: this crocheted pacifier clip pattern will work nicely with 100% cotton, 100% acrylic or a blend of both.I recommend using Light Worsted #3 = DK yarn.
I used 3 different colours to make 3 clips:
– Light Worsted #3 = DK yarn
– 100% cotton yarn
– 1x ball of Rico Essentials Cotton DK – colour fuchsia 14 – (50g/130m)
– 1x ball of Rico Essentials Cotton DK – colour pearl pink 55 – (50g/130m)
– 1x ball of Rico Essentials Cotton DK – colour cream 88 – (50g/130m)
– I used 8g / 20m of the yarn to make one pacifier clip
Crochet hook size: I used 3 mm hook = C/2 hook but refer to the instructions on your yarn label if using different weight of yarn
Tools used: scissors, yarn needle, metal or wooden clip – the clip I used has a loop that is about 2.4cm (1″) wide.

R3:
– SC into the 2nd CH from the hook
– SC into each stitch across
– SC into the last stitch
– DO NOT CH1 or TO {51}
– don’t worry if your work curls up at this stage, it will flatten out once you complete the decorative edging
You are now ready to start working on the decorative edging. But remember, you are not going to turn your work over, you will crochet around instead.
Decorative Edging: Short Side with a Loop for the Pacifier Ring
– continue from where you finished with R3
– CH1 and SS into the top of the last PUFF (Pic 7)
– CH1 and SS into the space on the side of the last PUFF (Pic 8)
– CH20 to create the loop for the pacifier (Pic 9) – if you are using a bigger metal or wooden clip, you may need to chain more to make sure you can pull the clip through the loop
– SS into the space on the side of the last PUFF (Pic 10)
– CH1 and SS into the bottom of the last PUFF (Pic 11)
– you can now continue with the edging on the long side
Decorative Edging: Long Side
– continue from where you finished with the short side
– CH1 and SS into the 1st CH of the FCH
– CH1 and SS into the next CH of the FCH (Pic 12)
– CH1 and SS into the next CH of the FCH all the way across apart from the last CH of the FCH
– DO NOT crochet into the last CH of the FCH
– you can now continue with the short side and attach the metal clip at the same time
Decorative Edging: Short side and Attaching the Metal Clip
– continue from where you finished with the long side
– first place your metal clip into the correct position – place it underneath your work with the back of the metal clip facing the wrong side of your work (Pic 13)
– hold the clip in the same position at all time while crocheting this short side
– 2x SC into the last CH of the FCH while attaching the clip:
– insert your hook into the last CH of the FCH and then into the clip loop (Pic 14)
– yarn over and pull through the clip loop and the last CH of the FCH, you will have 2 loops left on the hook
– yarn over and pull through the 2 loops on the hook
– repeat the above steps once more to complete the 2nd SC
– 3x SC into the HDC stitch next to the last PUFF (Pic 15) while attaching the clip:
– insert your hook into the HDC stitch and then into the clip loop (Pic 16)
– yarn over and pull through the clip loop and the HDC, you will have 2 loops left on the hook
– yarn over and pull through the 2 loops on the hook
– repeat the above steps two more times to complete the 2nd and the 3rd SC
– 1x SC into the 1st ST of R3 while attaching the clip (Pic 17) – follow the same steps as above to crochet into the clip loop
– 1x SC into the 2nd ST of R3 while attaching the clip (Pic 18) – again follow the same steps as above to crochet into the clip loop (I know this doesn’t match what we did on the other side when we started attaching the clip but it works and helps to attach the clip straight)
– you can now continue with the long side
Decorative Edging: Long Side
– continue from where you finished with the short side
– CH1 and SS into the 3rd ST of R3
– CH1 and SS into the next ST of R3
– CH1 and SS into the next ST of R3 and all the way across
– CH1 and SS into the last ST of R3
– CH1 and SS into the first ST of short side and FO
– weave both yarn ends in
And you are done! ๐ All there is left to do is to attach the pacifier.
